I recently met Laura at an intro session Thought Leaders was running. She is three years into running her practice, has written a great book and is already earning at yellow belt (over $240k revenue).
I congratulated her. And it wasn’t just a token congratulations to move the conversation onto what I wanted to talk about. I was seriously impressed. Ten years into my practice I hadn’t written a book or got beyond white belt ($120k).
It’s very easy to focus on the gap between where you are and where you want to be. And to an extent this is useful. If you want to get to black belt in your practice ($720k), it’s good to know what’s missing and what’s next.
But don’t do that at the expense of noticing how far you’ve come. You’re awesome. You’ve achieved amazing things. If that voice in your head says no I haven’t, let it know that Pete says yes you have. (And even if I have never met you, I’m still better qualified to make that assessment than the voice in your head, I promise.)
Just take a moment, pat yourself on the back, and then get back to it.
