I just had lunch with a friend … and fair to say life is not going exactly as planned. He’s separated from his wife, lost over a million dollars in a business venture that didn’t work out, and more.
Right now if you look at your business, your bank balance, your relationships, and your health, it might be all big ticks. (If so – awesome. Enjoy this phase.)
But chances are, you’ve got challenges in one or more of these areas.
The voice in your head is telling you this isn’t how it’s meant to be.
And perhaps there’s some shame mixed in.
Or some blame.
Topped with a little (or a lot) of beating yourself up.
Here’s a trick to dealing with life not quite working out the way we planned.
Pretend.
Pretend this is exactly how it's meant to be.
And if you can believe that, even better. But pretending is fine.
If you’re of a spiritual bent, this is surrender: letting go of your will, your plan, and accepting God’s.
If you’re not, then substitute the universe for God. And choose to believe (or pretend) that it's all unfolding exactly as it’s meant to.
Even if, right now, you can’t see how.
And even if it’s not comfortable.
