After a recent blog I got the most lovely email from my friend, Janet.
She wrote:
"Can I just let you know that I read every one of your posts … they are brilliant!"
That on its own is a gorgeous acknowledgement. But what was really special was that she then went on to tell me specifically what she loves:
"the right frequency, the right length, always personally relevant, vulnerable, thought leadership that’s not trying too hard, and the gentlest of gentle marketing."
My friend GG (Australia’s leading expert on giving feedback), says that feedback is much more powerful when it's specific. I think she’s right.
So I’ve started an experiment.
Between now and the end of the year I’m going to acknowledge someone everyday. I’ve just added the following recurring task on my to-do list:
Acknowledge someone. Be specific.
I’ll let you know how I go.
