On knowing your hard

A lot of things come easily to our eldest daughter, Scarlett.

She reads (and absorbs things) voraciously.  She speaks Spanish. Plays piano beautifully. Good at maths. I could go on.

But she has her hard too. Her strengths have shadow sides. And she has her struggles.

Our youngest daughter, Amelie, is amazing in very different ways. And her hard is very different to Scarlett’s.

In Dungeons and Dragons, when you create your character, you roll three dice to determine your characteristics — your strength, dexterity, wisdom etc.

In a way, life is like that. You’re given your strengths and your weaknesses. Your easy and your hard.

Best thing to do is accept it all.

Play the hand you were dealt (to horribly mix my metaphors).

And the kindest thing you can do is accept it all in those around you.
