On turning 50

So … I turned 50 on the weekend. Which naturally got me thinking about what the next 50 years might look like.

I just did an online life expectancy calculation.  Apparently, my life expectancy is 98. Let’s round that to 100.

My intent is to be healthy and productive until then.

Which means I’m about a third of the way into my professional career. And I have another five decades of being productive, contributing, and earning money.

I love this perspective. It means I don’t have to be in a hurry.

And given I’ll have my kids at home for only one of those five decades (the next one), it makes sense to make them the priority for that decade.
