I was talking to my friend Fiona who struggles sometimes to follow through on her plans. (And I don’t think she’s Robinson Crusoe on that front.)
She gets bored quickly, and has what she calls a severe case of shiny object syndrome.
We came up with an interesting experiment to run, and a new org chart for her business.
Fiona now has two distinct roles: Planner Fiona and Doer Fiona.
Planner Fiona sits at the top of the org chart. She sets direction, makes decisions, and creates the plan. She then briefs her EA.
Doer Fiona sits below the EA. She executes and reports in.
And here’s the key: Doer Fiona doesn’t have the authority to change the plan. If something needs to shift, she has to explicitly call in Planner Fiona.
I love it.
