If you're an expert running a thought leadership practice, you're in the advice business. And if you're smart, you're also learning, being mentored, and receiving advice.
I reckon there are three ways that this can go wrong on both sides of the equation.
If I had to sum it up in one theme I'd say it’s about ownership. If you're giving advice make sure you don't own the result or take the credit. And if you're receiving the advice then don't give away ownership and abdicate responsibility.
Easier said than done I know, but a worthy pursuit.
