On being a professional artist

This week Tim is installing a couple of his pieces on our property. We are huge fans of his work and we love the idea of art sitting in trees and on the land, not just hanging from a wall.

Tim is a professional artist. He’s managed to make money from his creativity. And all his work is made from reclaimed metal, so he’s even contributing to the planet at the same time. Go Tim.

For me all three are important. Contribution. Creative expression. And having an income.

And generally, it’s much easier to get the three in different domains. Do one thing to make money. Do something else to contribute to the planet. And do your art somewhere else. Great if two or three overlap … but not necessary.
