Get good at boring

I recently got into the habit of watching Netflix while I was cooking dinner.

It kind of snuck up on me. I would never, ever (to quote Taylor Swift "like ever") put a TV in the kitchen and turn it on while I was cooking.

But somehow putting in my ear buds and propping my phone up against the fruit bowl was different.

Then I had an interesting conversation with my friend Greg about managing dopamine and getting that from productive sources. Which means being OK with boredom some of the time.

I also read Mark Manson saying that the key to success at most things is to "get good at boring.”

So now I'm cooking with a bit less dopamine ... but a bit more space for ideas to float up and connect. Or not. And definitely with a bit more attention on the actual cooking.

I've come to the conclusion that boring is underrated.

Where could you use a bit more boredom in your life?
